The Punisher bercerita tentang Frank Castle (Thomas Jane), seorang mantan anggota Delta Force dan agen Biro Penyelidik Federal AS (FBI) yang kehidupannya mulai kacau ketika orang-orang terdekatnya dibunuh secara keji, sedangkan pelakunya tidak pernah dihukum.


Sejak itulah ia bersumpah untuk menghukum pembunuh keluarganya dan juga menghukum siapa pun yang jahat kepada orang lain dan tidak tersentuh oleh hukum.
